FAQS

The stuff you want to know

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

Head over to our membership page and fill out the form. Once you've done that, we'll be in touch to organise an interview via video conference. If you're successful in the interview, you'll be invited to complete a ski test at the start of the next season or end of the current one (whichever comes first). Success there will enable you to become a member and start learning! We only take on 2-3 new recruits each year so if you miss out the first time, we encourage people to become support members so that you can stay engaged before trying again the following year.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED TO GET STARTED?

For Operational members, we require that you have an Apply First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and NSW Working with Children Check by the time you attend the ski test.

For Support Members, we only require that you have a NSW Working with Children Check, but any additional skills or training is always helpful!

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY OWN KIT?

Yes. We will provide you with a jacket and relevant uniform items, but at the very least you'll need a snowboard or skis, boots and poles.

HOW DO I VOLUNTEER ONCE I'M A MEMBER?

When you become a member, you can let us know when you are free to volunteer and we will try to accommodate. Due to resort restrictions, we try to spread our volunteer days out and have only one or two up there at a time. That way, we ensure all our volunteers get a chance to go up and work.

WHAT KIND OF COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED?

The Association meets via video conference once per month. During the season members may choose to volunteer some of their time at the resort. Each time a member volunteers, they will be expected to work each day up to 5 days, following which they may choose to take up to 2 days off for personal skiing. During a volunteer shift, members will work as an integrated team with their paid peers and are expected to take part in all aspects of a standard patrol day. Volunteer schedules are arranged in consultation with Charlotte Pass Snow Resort and are based on demand for additional resources.
